Reminder for Business Owners: 1099-NEC Filing Deadline Approaching


If you paid $600 or more during the 2025 calendar year to individuals, independent contractors, or non-corporations for services, you are required to issue a Form 1099-NEC (Nonemployee Compensation).

 

Who Needs a 1099-NEC?

 

  • Freelancers

  • Subcontractors

  • Sole proprietors

  • Any non-employee who provided services and was paid $600 or more

 

Important Deadlines

 

  • Recipient Deadline: February 2, 2026

    (Normally January 31, but it falls on a weekend this year.)

  • IRS Filing Deadline: February 2, 2026

    Whether filing electronically or by paper.

 

Why It Matters
